Economically, the United States is one of the world’s most highly developed and productive nations, and leads the world in in the production of goods and services. Its people have one of the world’s highest standards of living.

What do you think about the following statements about the United States?

Why do these laws and customs exists? What are the good and bad points about these?

Culture, Life

19. Even though most Americans are of European descent, European culture isn’t that strong.

20. Most American families live in family homes and own several cars.

21. Whenever two or more people get together, they like to talk.

22. Many people love extreme and outdoor sports: snowboarding, windsurfing, mountain biking, rock climbing, water skiing, skydiving, rollerblading, juggling, unicycling, repelling off cliffs, scuba diving, diving with sharks and whales, yachting, bungee jumping, paragliding.

23. People like to spend time and money at shopping malls.

School

24. The highest level of math in most US schools is trigonometry; physics and chemistry classes are optional.

25. Many Americans not only do not know the difference between Slovenia and Slovakia, they do not know where they are.

26. In American classrooms, students talk almost as much as teachers.

Economics

27. Wages in the US are quite high.

28. Many factories and manufacturing jobs have shifted overseas from the US. Many IT (information technology), telephone call center and back office jobs have been outsourced to India, China, Brazil, and Eastern Europe.

29. Americans are very good in business, industry, and technology.

30. Many engineers, doctors, scientists; and well as housekeepers, farm and construction laborers in the US are immigrants.
