Mysteries, III

1. Sacsahuaman

Among the Incas’ building feats is the fortress at Sacsahuaman near Cuzco, Peru. The walls of Sacsahuaman are made of large stones, the largest of which weighs 200 tons.

These had been transported from many kilometers away over mountainous terrain.

The pieces are irregularly shaped, but fitted together so precisely that no mortar was necessary — in fact not even a knife or razor blade can be inserted in between the stones.

2. Stone Spheres

The stone spheres (or stone balls) of Costa Rica are an assortment of over three hundred petrospheres in Costa Rica, located on the Diquís Delta and on Isla del Caño.

The spheres range in size from a few centimeters to over 2 meters in diameter, and weigh up to 15 tons. Most were sculpted from a very hard stone. Geometrically, they are nearly perfect spheres.

The Fruit Company

The spheres were discovered in the 1930s while a fruit company was clearing the jungle for banana plantations. Workmen pushed them aside with bulldozers and heavy equipment, damaging some spheres.

Additionally, inspired by stories of hidden gold, workmen began to drill holes into the spheres and blow them open with sticks of dynamite.

No one knows for certain when, why, how they were built, or by whom.

3. UFOs

For hundreds of years, people have reported seeing various, mysterious objects in the air.

Many resemble a glowing tube or flying-saucer moving silently at high speeds, exhibiting maneuvers that would be unusual for an aircraft.

Unidentified Flying Objects

These UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) have been reported to have frightened animals, caused static on radios, and landed and left marks on the ground.

Many military and civilian pilots have also reported seeing strange, moving lights. The US Air Force investigated more than 12,000 UFO reports between 1947 and 1969.
