Hi. I’m Cristina. I’m 35 and I live in El Hierro.

What do you do for a living?

I work in tourism and I earn about 1,200 euros a month.

What does globalization mean to you?

In my opinion, globalization is a mistake. It has very good and very bad sides. I think it’s important that everyone preserves their own culture.

What makes you happy?

A lot of things — even when a butterfly flies by.

What worries you?

Some days I worry about making it through the month. Or I think about next year. And there are days I wonder if the sun will rise at all.

What is your favorite food?

I have so many favorite dishes, I cannot decide…. Pasta. Yes, pasta.

How do you spend your leisure time?

In my free time I take a lot of walks. I like to swim. I like the ocean and mountains.

What do you expect for your future?

I expect that I’ll continue to see the ocean when I get up. That way I can keep on smiling and being happy.
